Infographics and illustrations

IN ONE LINE...

Illustrate infographics for online print comparison site.

TEAMWORK/TOOLS/COLLABORATIONS INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT

Create a series of illustrations and infographics for a comparison print site we were developing. Work with the marketing manager to create the themes that would work through the site. We articulated that the graphics would help convey the messaging more efficiently than words and enhance the UX considerably. We presented to a selection of print suppliers within the industry for feedback and further workshopping and the site and infographics specifically were well received. Software – Adobe Creative Suite. Create .svg graphics and integrate in to site pages in a scalable form.

About This Project

This was the visual end of a complex web platform Insprint developed between 2014 and 2017. Ultimately the site was never launched for the same reasons many start-ups are shelved, but we have never tried to hide from this. It was a great project, and while incredibly humbling, it helped us understand ourselves and the complex nature of our industry in ways that cannot be learned about in books. We like to keep the illustrations here and the project on our site because despite the challenges we faced, it remains a project that we are proud of and one that we might just try to rekindle one of these days.

DIFFICULTIES AND CHALLENGES

The challenges were to convey the complex nature of certain elements and functions of the site in one frame, or a series of frames. However, we managed to create a balance and found a style that sat well with the aesthetic of the site. We had to learn to make them responsive, web friendly elements that worked well within the framework of the site.

IMPACT AND OUTCOMES

The impact here is limited and hard to determine because the site was not completed for launching. It resides on what we like to refer to as, ‘the most expensive memory stick in history’. However the lessons learned and challenges overcome have set us in good stead in the ensuing years. Also, its still there on the stick and ready to be dusted off for another go.
